The School Committee’s voted 1/29/08 to appoint Ms.
Valerie Spriggs (pending contract negotiations) as our new Superintendent.
There were motions to appoint as outlined below: Dover-Sherborn Union #50 Superintendency Committee Motion by Mr. Springett, second by Ms. Murphy. The site visits will take place next week and the three school committees will meet on Tuesday, January 29th to vote to appoint a new superintendent. Dover-Sherborn Superintendent Selection Process Enters Final Stages Ms. Delma Josephson is serving her third year as the Assistant Superintendent of the Narragansett Regional School District. Previously she served for six years as Assistant Principal in a superintendent/principal administrative model at the Bromfield School in Harvard, Massachusetts. Delma is a candidate for the Doctor of Philosophy degree at Boston College anticipating completion of all requirements by May, 2008. Dr. Lynne Sarasin is serving her third year as Deputy Superintendent of Schools in Lexington. Previously she served as Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and Professional Development for the Gardner Public Schools, Elementary School Principal, and Literacy Curriculum Specialist in Leominster. Dr. Sarasin has served as an instructor at several area colleges. She received the Doctor of Philosophy degree from Boston College with a concentration on Curriculum, Instruction and Administration. Ms. Valerie Spriggs currently serves as the Superintendent of Schools for the Southern Berkshire Regional School District. Previously she served as Executive Director of Professional Development for the Cambridge Public Schools; Elementary School Principal in Florida, Coordinator of Teacher Education, and Supervisor of Teachers at the University of South Florida. Valerie received the Master of Education degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of South Florida. Dr. Christine Tyrie is currently the Superintendent of Schools for SAU 24 representing four school districts in New Hampshire. Previously she served as Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Plymouth MA, and in Franklin NH. As a teacher she served in public and private schools in New Hampshire and overseas in Quito, Kuwait, Bangkok and Rome. Dr. Tyrie received the Doctor of Education Degree from the University of Sarasota, Florida. During the week of January 7, these final candidates will spend a day visiting each of the four schools and will participate in meetings with a variety of staff, parents and students. The Dover, Sherborn, and Dover-Sherborn Regional School Committees will conduct open interviews with the candidates on January 14 and January 16 at the Dover-Sherborn Middle School choral room (second floor) starting at 7 PM. All members of the Dover and Sherborn communities are invited and encouraged to attend the open interviews. Site visits to finalists' districts will occur following the open interviews. Superintendent Search Sub-Committee Dr. Perry Davis, Superintendent of Schools in Dover, Sherborn, and Dover-Sherborn Regional Schools, will be retiring and finishing his final day as our lead administrator on Friday, December 21, 2007. A celebratory Open House will be held in his honor on Tuesday, December 11th from 4-7 p.m. at Lindquist Commons. An interim superintendent, Dr. Robert Couture, has been hired to fill the position from January 1, 2008 until June 30, 2008. To many residents of our towns, Bob Couture is a known name and face as he served as our superintendent prior to Dr. Davis.The superintendent search process will be active from now through February, 2008. Future Management Systems, a professional and veteran search consulting firm, has created a tight but thorough timeline for our district.
