Welcome

The Dover Sherborn Public Schools are committed to providing ongoing professional development for faculty, staff, and administrators on all facets of teaching and learning, as well as operations management.

Evidence of the school committees' commitment to quality, ongoing professional development is the fact that a considerable amount of time is dedicated to professional development in the form of early release and full PD days throughout the school year.

The Professional Development Committee prepares a robust professional development day for all Dover Sherborn personnel the Monday following Thanksgiving recess each year.

2012-2013 Dover-Sherborn’s iPad initiative and Professional Development

In an effort to meet the needs of today’s learner and support the mission of Dover-Sherborn Public Schools in producing a student populous sufficiently prepared for the 21st-century, this webpage identifies our current status of iPad PD throughout the districts.

The iPad initiative is only one element of this process and provides an insight to our plans for enhancing existing curriculum and addressing a society where skills for success are now broadly based, digitally motivated, and mobile bound. Through professional development and training, faculty will be better equipped to integrate their curriculums with technology devices and resources that compliment learning and offer students a more active role in the education process.

The iPad offers various options for students. Not only does it act as a tool to produce information, it allows students to think creatively, collaborate on ideas, communicate globally, research effectively, differentiate within the classroom, and perform multimedia tasks in a quick and easy fashion.  For additional information, view articles below:

2009-2010 School Year: Full PD Day on November 30, 2009

On November 30, 2009, Dover Sherborn personnel enjoyed a full PD day.  Please view the agenda to see the array of rich opportunities afforded to all DS personnel.  The morning featured keynote speaker Dr. Willard Daggett of the International Center for Leadership in Education.  Dr. Daggett presented on Preparing High Performing Students for the 21st Century.  The session was organized around a PowerPoint presentation highlighting many facts and examples of the importance of 21st century skill infusion in American students.  Faculty, staff, and administrators then had the opportunity to select sessions to attend in the afternoon as a means of extending Dr. Daggett's message from the morning.

Dover Sherborn Professional Develoment Institutes

The PD Committee also launched the first-ever DS Public Schools Summer Institutes series in the summer of 2010.

The Committee is pleased and proud to offer a Summer Institutes 2011 platform this year.

Dover Sherborn personnel interested in facilitating an institute need to complete and submit an Institute Application to the PD Committee according to the directions found on the application.
